All Grown Up
No longer pig tails and dresses
I’ve moved onto highlights and jeans
No more piggy-back rides
I’m now hanging out with the other teens
I feel that I’ve changed
but I also feel the same
I have the same memories
I have the same name
No more level one books and crayons
I’ve moved onto novels and poetry
No more picking out my clothes
I’m now free to be me
I feel that I’ve grown older
matured and become responsible
I feel like no one can figure me out
I have my own unique label
No more play dates and time outs
I’ve moved onto hang outs and groundings
No more Sponge-bob or finger counting
I’m now a writer, someone to confound in
I feel like I am my own person
no one can hold me back
the weight is on my own shoulders
a weight I will attack
Still the same love for animals
I’ve not changed too much
Still the same person
Still the same at heart
