Choking on the tears that
she swallows every day
Even blind eyes can be
Bloodshot
Searching within herself for that
Faded dream
The one
That used to sing her to sleep
A whispered lullaby
She doesn’t hear it
Anymore
Time crashes
Like an ocean around her
She struggles
In the waves
To find something
Anything
To hold onto but
Instead
Loses herself
In the currents.
