Broken Promises
Smiles stretched so far and wide
Our love numbering the stars in the sky
You and I were best friends
You and I were best friends
And then one day
She came along
Piercing green eyes
Red hair long
It didn't matter
You told me I was your best friend
You told me I was your best friend
Then jealousy took me up in its grasp
It made my world spin
It made heart ache
Because what I wanted I threw away
I wanted to be your best friend
I wanted to be your best friend
Our world spun, our lives were rocked.
You forgave my jealous deeds
Yet with her you laughed, and as I read
These hateful emails sent to me
I realize I was wrong
I wanted nothing more than amnesia
A simple way to forget
The tears
The hurt
The hate
The pain
Did I want to be your best friend?
Was it worth the pain?
And now as teardrops fall like rain
Sobs racking my body
My heart wrenching for a re-do
A start over button
A second chance
And now I feel it was me
The fat and ugly worthless girl
Who deserves this awful fate
And as I sit and write this down
My pencil shakes
My paper tears
The words, unreadable
As if they never existed
It's broken
It's broken
